Here are the steps to restore from a backup tape that was created by a seperate server or from different software:

1) On the media tab, right click the tape drive adn choose Inventory
2) Once the inventory is complete the tape will now be displayed in the right window
3) Right click the tape and choose catalog
4) Once cataloging is complete, job to the restore job wizard and your new tape will be available as an option to restore files.
